santa.

Posted on Saturday, March 5, 2011 in Random, Sheer Boredom, Thoughts

Never believed in Santa Claus, and didn’t see a need to do so. I knew my parents bought our gifts for us, so I didn’t see a need for the existence of a jolly old man bringing me gifts.

Then, went to the UK when I was 9, and we were er, indoctrinated in the beliefs of the West. So, yeah, we thought, maybe, maybe Santa did exist.

Hohoho. Until that Christmas morning, when I opened my sack, to find… Sweets. Not books. My brother got the books, and he loved my sweets. If Santa messed that up, then he can’t be real. Pish. We humored them of course, and let them think we like ‘em. Blek. As if.

Sirius x Remus

Posted on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Inspiration, Sheer Boredom

I absolutely love them! Haha. I’ve been indulging myself in a little furry love. :P they are sooooooo lovely together. Theirloveisjustsocanon. :D

Anyway. I’m at my wits’ end on what to write for my recent story. :( it’s a multi-chaper fic. And I’m currently reading this fiction where Sirius isn’t in Azkaban, set two years before Harry is sent to Hogwarts. Weeee! Love it. The plot is ingenius! Of course, he’s manipulated so much, but I don’t like that Dumbledore is so fierce, and Snape is soft.

Ugh. Anyway, he handled it rather nicely. :) I’m so relieved. Ooh.

Sigh.

As a fan, I would dearly love to see how their friendship developed over the years. What were the sort of things they had to go through that their friendship was quickly repaired after 13 years of severance? What made Remus trust Sirius so much? Why are they such a united front? Hehe. And what goes on behind closed doors in Sirius’ room? Heeeheee. XD

Alrighty. That’s enough. Sigh.

adventures.

Posted on Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Sheer Boredom, Thoughts

Well, i’ll be celebrating my very first christmas away from home this time around. :( but at least I’m celebrating it with a buddy of mine, as we’re also in the same predicament. You know what I like about this year’s Christmas? It’s gonna be an adventure!

An adventure reminiscent of Home Alone! Ah. I love that movie. XD so, to celebrate a wonderful and comforting Christmas this year, I’m going to download some nice Christmassy movies, put together a nice Christmas jazz mix, and make a Christmas tree (miniature, of course!)! Ooh, and if there’s snow in Texas while I’m there, I’m going to make snowmen! Most likely miniature snowmen, and make silly stories with them :D wouldn’t that be fun?

:D so that sums up my Christmas adventure! I feel so positively fluffeyh and happeyh! :D don’t you?

toy story.

Posted on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Daily Motions, Random, Sheer Boredom, Thoughts

watched toy story 3 while doing organic chem isn’t the best idea, but at least i released stress through crying. XD

i think it’s a fitting end to the whole franchise, though i would like to see what bonnie’s adventures would be like. i cried bucketloads when it came to the ending, when andy gave his toys to bonnie, and finally, gave also his best toy – woody. =(

i can understand that. parting with your favorite playthings is tough. =( and parents make you do it. and you will make your kids do it too, eventually. =( i didn’t have that much play toys when i was a kid. i mostly played with lego (building blocks), polly pockets, and my imagination. barbie was for drama purposes. XD anyway, i loved imagining about space and surviving in space and such. so i would use my crib as a space ship. XD weeeeeeee. tat was pretty wicked. i used to bring my brother along on missions, and then we would have epic saber battles. those times were awesome.

i grew up, and stopped playing with toys. and i didn’t trust him with my toys, because i couldn’t exactly figure out what his imagination was about at that time. looking back, i find it amusing now, the way he would talk to his toys, and such. =P lol. he would have his … british accent, just like mum when she speaks proper english. XD lol. i mimicked the cartoons, so it was mostly american. xD i wish i could turn back time, and be a better sister. and show him how it’s done. XD lol.

what i didn’t like was that all the adults (besides my parents) wouldn’t buy me what i want. they would buy me girl stuff like barbie dolls and accessories, when all i wanted was lego. seriously. lego is practical! plus, for about the price of a barbie doll, i can make thousands of types of ships with just one lego set. isn’t that an awesome thing? sigh. but i had to make do with barbie, and i was handed down with extra dolls – a Ken doll. XD that was fun too! so i had 1 original barbie doll, 2 ken dolls (1 classic and 1 with polyester hair), 1 kelly doll and 1 angel(ciplak) doll. XD oh, for a 5 year old, you wouldn’t believe the drama i had with all those. barbie was raped, and had to marry quickly to cover her shame, gave birth to kelly, whom she treated like sister. time passed, and as it turns out, her mother-in-law married her to her son who had raped her. >.< lol

pretty scary for a kid. damn. XD lol. from toys, i moved on to books. endless opportunities. and mommy and papa wouldn’t complain, coz they want me to read. at least no more toys. XD lol. but i liked buying toys that i could take to the bathroom with me. i liked having battleship wars, coz we used to live in a kampung house which had a huge tank where we kept the water to mandi. and i would float my ship, and sink some as well. those were awesome mandi times. =P

i guess i grew up like a boy, but i think i turned out fine. XD lol. i’m not a tomboy anymore, but i like to think myself as a well-rounded individual. i guess my interest in miniatures is like a residue of those times. i never really can tear myself away from those happy childhood memories.

ooh. i had invisible friends too! i still do actually. only that my friends have grown up, just like me. XD before my brother, i had a first mate, to help manage my spaceship. as i went to primary school and high school, i had one called aj, after my favorite singer. he was a lot of fun, and he cared for me. XD okay, this sounds freaky, but who cares man. and he was a goody-goody too. XD and he lives in a computer. weeeeeee. artificial intelligence.

then aj went away, and i found awesome group of invisible friends. they’re jake, hunter, fawkes, fox, wolfe, etc. all code names, but also their last names. mad awesome group of hunters. bounty hunters. :D and i was the daughter of a colonel, a colonel who taught them before in the army. XD his name was colonel jack o’neill, after a favorite character in stargate. =D lol. so yeah.

that’s it. that’s as far as i get about my crazy thoughts. XD lol. look no further.

miniature furniture.

Posted on Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Crafts, Daily Motions, Sheer Boredom, Thoughts, Wood-Working

I just had this ‘Eureka!’ Moment, while in the washroom. I think my best ideas come when I’m in the washroom, even pranks. Lol. And there’s a perfectly logical explanation for it too! In the washroom, you perform natural functions that do not require you to concentrate so much, whereas everywhere else you’re surrounded by distractions. :P

Anyway, that day, I was in the bathroom, and saw that the toilet paper ran out, so there was the cardboard left. I was thinking, what if I cut it in parts, and made each part a bed for my bunneyhs? I mulled over the design of the beds for about a few days until…

Today, I was in the washroom, and thought about it, and somehow my memory associated it with the spices board my cousin has in her house. She doesn’t use it though. The spices board had this circular compartments instead of conventional squares. They look clean, crisp and modern, which is what I was going for.

So I imagined using that as a basis for my bunneyh’s living quarters! :P they can sleep there, watch tv, etc, and it’ll be so fun writing up their names to hang over their private quarters. And I don’t have to worry about any of them getting lost too, since I would most likely glue all compartments to the board. It’s hard to describe it, but hopefully, once I’m done, I can post it. *squee* so tempted to go to Michaels’ to get craft stuff!!!! But no money, so have to make do with what I have I guess. :( huhu. Nemind la. I work on it first.

Speaking of which, I’m already starting on my first furniture! A bookcase! XD based it off IKEA’s simple design, and planned it from there. It’ll be painted white, then coated with varnish to preserve it, then I shall put decal on the side which can be changed over time. :D smart neh???? I know I’m awesome *bows* lol. I can’t wait to make miniature books and journals and ohh so many stuff I can think of. Bookends, calendars, etc. :D

Sigh. Life is good.

i feel good! uhuh-uhuh.XD

Posted on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in Book Review, College Life, Daily Motions, Reviews, Sheer Boredom, Thoughts

woots! pat my back! quick!

i finished 2 books today. in a span of … 4 hours. yes! new record! hahaha. not new la. just that Harry Potter books 6 & 7 = 4 books, in that sense, since it took me a straight 4 hours each to read them. but i finished reading these books. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

yeah, so i get an adrenaline rush from finishing books. blek. im not a nerd. == wooots. i bought The Lost Hero, a book written by Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series. wow. i remember the first time i saw that Percy Jackson book. it was in form 5. we were given this brochure, where the teachers could order books for us. i bought a few, but it was that title that caught my eye. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. stunning. intriguing. nerve-racking. i was agitated, just waiting for the book to arrive. when it arrived, i devoured it, forgetting the world i was living in and lived in Percy’s world. i felt blood rushing up to my ears, my heart pumping so heavily against my chest as i read from page to page about him dodging attacks and getting out of life-threatening situations.

and here i am again, same adrenaline rush as i follow different heroes in different books on their adventures. i also bought the book I am Number Four. after watching the trailer with Alex Pettyfer starring in it. he has a penchant of choosing interesting roles and trying to make them work, despite the carelessly put-together plot and storylines. sad, but oh well, he’s doing it for a good cause. anyway, this book makes me curl my toes as my breath quickens each time i read a stressful moment. words seem to swim in my head, but i can hear the pain, i can feel his anguish. wow. haha. anyway, this is a good book.

you know what i don’t like about new series that are good? they take ages to come out. >.< the agony in which i succumbed to just to wait for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is coming back to haunt me. in fact, as i finished Rick’s latest creation, i’m reminded of the other series he had started, about the Kane Chronicles. gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. you know why i like books written by men and targeted at 14-year-old boys? the romance is not sickening. it’s sweet, and innocent, and pure. the adventures are awesome. the plotlines are freaking awesome and not bogged down by cumbersome details. in fact, when they do include little details, those details make you thirst for more. this is also why i don’t read books by stephenie meyer. or silly romance writers nowadays. or those writers writing about vampires. vampires get old, in my universe. greek gods and egyptian gods? heck, gimme them anytime. i think they were the Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl‘s predecessors. XD

of obsession, miniatures and eBay

Posted on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Crafts, Inspiration, Random, Sheer Boredom, Shopping, Thoughts

Flower Bookmarks

It’s made out of simple materials. All I did was erm, acquire a few stirring sticks from Starbucks and Burger King, and made this! haha. The little flowers, dragonfly and teddy bear are actually cut out of polymer clay canes that I recently bought from eBay. Cheap deals. =P I bought about 100 sticks. Should last me a long time, I suppose. And the bluish flowers are punched out of memo paper I had in hand, and I wrote some bible verses with colored pens on each of them. This is just part of my experiments, so you’re free to try it out for yourself, and let me know of any other ideas that you’d like to see implemented. If I could, I would.

Shot of ends of the bookmarks

Here’s a close up of  the ends. There’s a sakura flower and some pink rolls. This is for the teddy bear bookmark, since I would have each of them display 3 miniature stickers.

Dollhouse Miniature 1:12 Plates

I bought about 130 miniature plates. I’m not crazy, it’s just that I want it to be a one-time deal, and I’ll work from there. Could probably save me a huge amount of money too in the long run.

So, if you have any ideas on what kind of food should I make, let me know. =D Don’t worry by the sheer number of the plates that you can see in the picture on the left, that’s only about 15 plates. I’ll let you know if I’m nearing my limit of 130 plates.

Assorted items

Alrighty. Next up would be this picture of assorted items. From the far left would be two sets of jewelry display bust, in black and white, and in front of those two would be a burger in a display case, and at the back would be a vintage coffee grinder, followed by an oil lamp, and a water fountain, with a 12pc-set of silverware, and a sewing box next to the bucket of kitchenware. The bird cage looks glorious here, and slightly further back would be a metal serving tray, with the cockerel teacup and saucer. =D

I’ll give you a better shot soon, since this one favors the birdcage more. Hang on a bit while I fumble around for the next shot.

Different perspective of assorted items

Alrighty. Here’s a different perspective. As you can see, the sewing kit has some thread, and a measuring tape in it, which i plan to use as a sample for future endeavors into making such items. And the display busts, burger display case, fountain, serving tray and birdcage will be used to display items such as jewelry, food, and tiny birds that I plan on making. I’m so excited!

As for the water fountain and cockerel teacup and saucer, those will be used to reproduce many more in their likeness. Especially once I know how to mold. =D hehehe. I don’t buy things randomly, I usually have some purpose behind them. However vague they may be, at least I know they would be useful somewhat.

Assorted flowers

Alrighty. Lookie here! Flowers! Miniature flowers, to be precise. I don’t know what they are, but the petals and flowers looked so dainty I just couldn’t help but to get them! And I adore them so much, that I’m gonna make more of them! Haha. I might just look up on flower arranging tutorials, just to see if it would look nice in miniature too. I believe I have lilies and hyacinth, but I’m not quite sure anyway. I’ll look it up sometime later.

So, for the next picture, it’ll be about …

Harry Potter Book Collection

This! Harry Potter book collection! Yay! Okay, it was cheap, inclusive of shipping, so I scrambled to get it. I searched for Tolkien too, but I guess he’ll just have to wait. All seven books in the Harry Potter series. It’s printed on the inside too, but I couldn’t read what it said, certainly not gibberish I hope. They look almost like the real thing, only smaller. I don’t know what sort of books I would like to make some day, but these would be guideline.

Alrighty, we’re almost nearing the end of the post and pretty pictures, so I’ll give a hint as to certain things I’d like to make soon!

Ice Cream Cups, Jellies, & Periodic Table

Yeah. So ice creams, jelly maybe, and some chemical compounds! I especially love seeing powdered forms of the copper(II) sulphate and such on watch glasses. So pretty! Especially when they’re crystallized! So, have a great weekend, and hope that my pictures have somewhat enticed you into this miniature world. =D

I’m trying to motivate myself into doing homework. XD Oh boy. I have to prepare for debate. I have to do my chemistry homework. Then, there’s physics to review. And lab reports due monday. Geez.

Sep 7

a great weekend.

i consider myself to be fortunate. even in a foreign land, i’m surrounded by familiarity. family and friends are here to support me. God is with me. i’m not alone. 8D

i spent my first labor day weekend with family, in chicago. my parents are still around, and will be leaving this wednesday. i’m gonna miss them so bad. =( anyway, we had a great time together, with my cousins, as we went around chicago. we took a trip to field museum, which has a dinosaur exhibit, among others. we wanted to go to the aquarium, but the queue was too long. and then we basically had a homely dinner the last night i was there. =) i love it. =D

i bought a few items, increasingly aware of the toll i’m taking on my parents’ income. =/ so i didn’t exactly splurge. in fact, i’ve stopped splurging. for now, i’m gonna focus on saving up and studying smart. hehe. and spending my time wisely. yay!

had a great videocall with lynn just now, just catching up. =D exchanged our addresses so that we can mail each other stuffs. sumthg like care packages? only smaller. lol. anyway, thank you, Daddy, for this life you’ve given me. my family, my hopes and dreams, my friends, my life. =) it is awesome as it is, and i hope that we’ll continue to make it awesomer. hehe.

among the things i bought were a pair of jeans, a few undergarments, t-shirts, jacket, flip-flops, and various other stationery. ^~^ i love it. weeeeee. hehehe. okies, time for me to get busy.

list of things to do:

  1. Timetable – personal & class
  2. Unpack -> laundry
  3. Filing -> bills, receipts, important documents.
  4. Homework -> chemistry, history, forensics, physics, japanese
Sep 3

the aftermath of a hectic week.

this is a review of my week, and things that i’ve found out about US. XD

i’ve just come back from a meeting – Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. it’s not so far from my place, so i’m just gonna give it a shot. i planned to adjourn to Campuse Crusade’s meeting at Eisland Hall, downtown, but it’s just way too far and way too dark for me to want to go down there tonight. and i’m freaking tired. exhausted, like seriously.

anyway, i kinda like my life here. i’m settling down so slowly, that my facebook account is facing a stunted life. lol. yeah, those were the days when you just remembered the new kid’s name and add him on facebook after meeting him. but hey, now i’m the new kid here. and i gotta work my way in. O.o but God has been gracious. =)

anyway, it kinda sucks being new. really. =/ but i like it so far. history class just got more interesting, and i found myself liking machiavelli’s the prince. anyway, i can now conclude that i’m getting more and more comfortable with the subjects i’m taking, despite the fact that they’re all heavy, and i have a heavy workload this semester. i’m fine with that. =)

anyway, there’s this history major who sat next to me in class. =) he’s kinda nice, and really chatty. but rather good too. =) nice guy. think he’s 18. XD hahahah. added him on facebook. ooh, and i started my day off with a fresh lemonade at the campus crusade stand. which was kinda cool! they seemed nice, but yeah, most people here are nice. i think i’m just gonna stick to intervarsity cf, since it seems small, and it’ll be easier to meet more people that way.

erm. well, i thought i was going to be really swamped here, but looks like i’m handling things very well, if i may say so myself. mwahaha. i’ve discovered a better way to get to class early and not miss the quizzes – pray really hard your professor lets you off earlier. which they did. today! i had back to back classes at different buildings, and well, let’s just say it was hard work getting to those buildings. but i prayed really hard, and it didn’t help that i had to skip my lunch and breakfast, but ahhh, was it worth it? definitely. came back, ate some noodles, had nesvita and took a power nap. =) awesome life.

and, i wanna talk about my roommate. i like her. =) she’s nice, and she’s really helpful. plus, we have a few common interests, and she was once a forensics major. before she switched to criminology. which i think is still cool. =D and she would be taking some dance classes sometime this semester, which i hope she remembers to update me about cause i’d like to take them too. anyway, she’s just nice. =) and without any of those melodramatic tendencies. i think she’s got a reasonable and cool head for things. =) mwahahahahaha. thanks, God. =) oh, and she’s from OHIO. =)

alrighty… that’s my post so far. and i shall be away this weekend to chicago. there’s an upcoming baltimore trip that i wanna discuss with my parents. i’m hoping my roomie can go too. XD oh, and i’m planning a thanksgiving trip to chicago for the black friday sales. weeee. lynnie planning to come with me as well! nice la. and ebay rocks. hahah. and my textbooks arrived. yay! so happy! mwahaha. alrighty. i wanna get back to psych. =)
